Food Ease makes mealtimes joyful again, with low cost, evidence-based resources for families and practitioners, providing access to feeding therapy strategies for tamariki who are clinically significant picky eaters. Jacqui Morgan is a Speech Language Therapist who specialises in functional feeding interventions to help picky eaters make progress, by supporting tamariki to broaden their diet and eat well.

Jacqui is a Speech, Language and Feeding Therapist who specialises in feeding therapy for picky eaters.

She recognised that there was a gap in support available across Aotearoa for tamariki and whānau where a young person was a clinically significant picky eater but did not have dysphagia/swallowing difficulties or medical complexities.

So, she up-skilled in functional feeding interventions to support these tamariki to broaden their diet and eat well, alongside bringing joy back to mealtimes for families.

Jacqui has since begun creating low cost, evidence-based resources for families and practitioners. Her passion is to lower entry barriers and increase equitable access to supports, which will allow every family who needs it, to access feeding therapy strategies.

Join Jacqui to learn ways to feel more capable and confident when working with picky eaters and their whānau.

This event is open to all, and will be especially helpful for Speech Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Early Childhood Educators and whānau of picky eaters.

This training is not focused on clinical assessment and management of dysphagia or swallowing safety although that is a key piece of work that sits alongside feeding therapy!

This is specifically focusing on supports for tamariki who are restricted eaters, who align with Paediatric Feeding Disorder and ARFID characteristics. They may be neurodiverse, or have had previous swallowing interventions but the current top concern is a limited variety of food in their diet or limited volume of food consumed.

Jacqui uses a Responsive Feeding Therapy approach as the over-arching therapeutic philosophy, but integrates useful practices from other key schools of thought in the feeding space like SOS (particularly the Steps to Eating approach for slow sensory exposure from distal to proximal to build tolerance), Division of Responsibility, and Food Chaining.

By the end of the workshop you will:
😋 Have a better understanding of assessment and intervention options for picky eaters

😋 Feel more confident offering support to families who need it

😋 Know more about resources, tools and strategies you can recommend for families

😋 No longer feel like picky eating is a dead end!

This workshop will be held live on Zoom, on Wednesday 25 February from 3:30-4:30PM NZT.
