Intended Participants

This online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) event is intended for new entrant, year 1 and year 2 Primary School Teachers interested in practical approaches for working on speech sound errors with primary-school aged children, within current classroom activities.

Learning Objectives 

By the end of the session, participants will have an increased understanding of, as well as practical strategies and activities to use, to work on speech sound errors within existing classroom activities, including:

  • Milestones for acquiring individual speech sounds

  • When to refer for Speech Language Therapy support

  • Strategies to use if you don't understand what a child is saying

  • Strategies to teach children if others have difficulty understanding their speech

  • Ways to describe and teach consonants and vowels

  • How to work on speech during literacy activities

  • How to work on speech during free play time 

  • Using Sound Walls for speech

This event will be recorded for viewing afterward. The recording will be made available as part of the registration cost after the event, to registered participants. It will be available for sale, for those who did not register for the live event.
